Born on February 14, 1844, in Grenoble (Isère), and dying on September 22, 1925, in Le Pecq (Yvelines), Jacques Théodore Sholto de Douglas (1844 - 1925) left an indelible mark on history.

As the son of Louis Archambaud Douglas and Paule Marie Garnon de Monval, he hailed from a lineage steeped in nobility and determination.

- Becoming a student at the Saint-Cyr Military School on October 11, 1864, he embraced the path of honor and duty.
- Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Infantry on October 1, 1866, he committed heart and soul.
- By January 1, 1869, he served with the 3rd RIMA, 19th company, in La Réunion.
- Promoted to Lieutenant on March 22, 1869, he ascended the ranks with valour.
- Awarded the Legion of Honour on June 10, 1871, he was recognized for courage and loyalty.
- In 1872, he served off-duty in the Paris Army as a Captain.

However, in 1875, he made a radical decision: resignation. The reasons remain buried in history, but his choice marked a turning point in his life.

He continued his career in the Territorial Infantry, proudly wearing the uniform and defending cherished values.

On December 29, 1896, he was elevated to the rank of Officer of the Legion of Honour, while serving as a Battalion Commander in the 54th Territorial Infantry Regiment.
