Christian Douglas is a German politician who was
elected as a member of the Bundestag in 2025. He has been a member
of the Alternative for Germany since 2014.
Christian Douglas, born in 1978 in Nyköping, Sweden, holds dual Swedish and German citizenship. His educational and professional journey reflects a blend of ambition and versatility. After completing high school, civilian service, and training as a bank clerk, he pursued studies in Bochum, California, and at Goethe University Frankfurt, earning the title of Diplom-Kaufmann, equivalent to a Master's degree in business administration. Furthering his expertise, he completed part-time studies at the DVFA, achieving certifications as a European Financial Analyst (CEFA) and International Investment Analyst (CIIA).
Professionally, Douglas has established himself as a stock market analyst for a major Frankfurt bank and resides in the Main-Taunus district. In 2014, he ventured into politics by joining the Alternative for Germany (AfD), marking a significant shift in his career. During the 2023 state elections, he ran as a direct candidate in constituency 14 Fulda (City) but narrowly missed securing a seat in the Hessian state parliament due to his position on the party list. Despite this, he remains active as a member of the AfD Main-Taunus district board.
Currently, Douglas is the AfD's direct candidate for the Main-Taunus constituency in the Bundestag elections. Confident in his prospects, he has already arranged an apartment, office, and staff member in Berlin. Ranked sixth on the Hessian state list, he anticipates entering the Bundestag. Following police advice, he has chosen not to disclose his exact residence publicly.
Douglas reflects on his political evolution, noting his past support for the FDP. The issue of debt mutualization within the EU's bank bailouts was a turning point, leading him to join the AfD in 2014. He views the party's leadership changes, with the departure of moderate figures like Bernd Lucke and Jörg Meuthen, as a natural progression, emphasizing that those who remain understand the dynamics of party politics.
In the lead-up to the Bundestag election, Douglas is actively participating in panel discussions to present his positions. Drawing from his experience in the 2023 state election campaign, he finds students particularly receptive to his ideas. As the spokesperson for monetary and financial issues at the state level, he has underscored his ambitions for a transition to full-time politics, a move that has gained traction within the party.
