  Father's name: William Penn Charnock Mother's name: Mary Mathew Charnock Both parents were deceased by the time William was sixteen years old.He was born in Moundsville, West Virginia so his parents must havebeen from that area in West Virginia or at least lived there at onetime. (We now know that William Penn Sr. was enlisted in the Civil Warin West Virginia.) It's just been learned from census records thathis father was a Teamster when the family was in Virginia/WestVirginia. He would have done long hauls of taking supplies back andforth between Ohio and West Virginia know doubt by wagon train. Itis unknown how William came to be in Ohio for sure except for hisfather farming there in the area. William's father did sign for himon his draft registration card of WW I in 1817 Ohio, and it was listedthat William Jr. was a farmer then and employed by his father WilliamSr. Also, I'd like to point out that not only was William from WestVirginia but so were Mary, Thelma, and Carl Womax. Plus, it wouldappear from the census records of 1920 & 1930 in Ohio that the men allworked together at the steel mill in the same county. So, theydiffently knew each other at work. I'm going to make an assumptionthat William's father probably met the others while working as ateamster, and the family living in West Virginia. William married Thelma Lucille Bonifant Womax after her first husbandCarl died from T.B. around sometime in 1926. William acceptedThelma's mother-n-law Mary Womax and her daughter Dorothy Mae Womaxwhen they married. Together, William and Thelma had eight childrenwhile married. Their first child was born in 1929. As far as it'sknown, it was his first and only marriage. The children were born inTuscarawas County, Ohio and this is where they both, William andThelma, died and were buried.
