  Known as Robin to his friends He married, firstly, Elizabeth Ann Moseley, daughter of Colonel Arthur Henry Moseley, on 27 September 1952. He and Elizabeth Ann Moseley were divorced in 1973. He married, secondly, Rosemary Williams, daughter of Sir Herbert Geraint Williams, Bt., in 1973. He and Rosemary Williams were divorced in 1986. He married, thirdly, Malgorzata Maria Hruzik-Mazurkiewicz, daughter of Tadeusz Pobog Hruzik-Mazurkiewicz, in 1986. Robert Anthony Carmichael Hamilton, 13th Lord Belhaven and Stenton was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the The Cameronians. He was decorated with the award of Commander, Cross of Order of Merit of Poland in 1995. He succeeded to the title of 13th Lord Belhaven and Stenton, co. Haddington [S., 1647] on 10 July 1961.
