  Obit from the Narrowsburg, NY River Reporter 7/25/2002: EDITH B. NEWENHOUSE HONESDALE: Edith B. Newenhouse of Honesdale, a resident of Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, died Monday, July 16, 2002 at the center. She was 82. Daughter of the late Rudolph and Sophia Gevert Buddenhagen, she was born May 12, 1920 in Welcome Lake. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and was active in its women’s organizations, including the quilters, and had been an active volunteer with the Area Agency on Aging. Survivors include a son, Donald W. of North Fort Myers, FL; three daughters, Carolyn A. Magalski of Honesdale, Marion E. Long of Honesdale and Doris Fritz of Hampstead, NC; a sister, Irene Turner of Sussex, NJ; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six brothers and seven sisters. A memorial service was held in the Central United Methodist Church Annex Building. The Rev. Mark Terwilliger officiated. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery in Narrowsburg, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, the American Red Cross, 1111 Main Street, Honesdale or to the donor’s choice. The family requests that donations of food be sent to the Food Pantry.
