• Notes

  He entered the British Army with the rank of Ensign in 1759, and progressed through the ranks until promoted Colonel in 1782. He resigned his commission in 1789 because of bad health, and died at Seine-et-Marne, Île-de-France, France on 20th March 1791. He was Gentleman of the Bedchamber to the Prince of Wales from 1783.
