  	The bride came from a very prominent family in Westmorland county. Her father, Maj. Benjamin Berryman, was the high Sheriff of the county and owned thousands of acres of land, therefore it is very probable the marriage took place on her family plantation in Westmorland county. The records from this county have suffered heavy losses during the Revolutionary and Civil wars. To date no marriage record has been found.* there is one.   Joseph Douglas lived 'two counties over from Campbell County' "State of Tennessee) In the Name of God Amen. Grainger County ) I Joseph Douglass of the County and State aforesaid, do make and Ordain, this My Last Will and Testament as follows- Firstly - I give and bequeath all my house hold furniture to my wife Margaret So long as She lives and after her Death then to be sold and Equally divided between my five youngest Children Namely Polly Susannah Fanny Nancy and Yaunger. Secondly - I give and bequeath to my oldest Son William Douglas one Negro Boy Named Willis which I lend him Some time past Thirdly - I give and bequeath to my Oldest Daughter Sarah Underwood One Negro girl Named Hanney which I lent her Some time past and Fourthly - My Will and Desire is that all the remaining part of My property Not here to fore mentioned Shall be Sold and Equally divided between My children here after Named John Douglass Mary Ann Horton Elizabeth Gardner Berreman Douglass Catherine Fears Polly Douglass Susannah Douglass Fanny Douglass Nancy Douglass Yaunger Douglass And I further authorize Constitute and appoint My Trusty friend Mathew Campbell Esq. Majar Lea prov The Grainger County,TN Archives holds marriage records for several of Joseph Douglass's children, who are also included in his will, including: Elizabeth, who married Thomas Gardner, 1806; Berryman, who married Susannah Bailes, 1808; Catherine, who married James Fears, 1808; Polly, who married William Fears, 1809; and possibly John, who married Rachael West in 1827. Very little information has been found on Joseph Douglas. What little is known suggest that he lived most of his life in Fauquier Co., Virginia. It is obvious he died in Grainger Co., Tennessee. His family has been reconstructed from records available and is believed to be accurate.
