Whetu  

Whetu Douglas (born 18 April 1991) is a New Zealand rugby union player who currently plays as a loose forward for Italian Pro14 team Benetton.

Douglas debuted for Waikato in a match against Horowhenua-Kapiti in 2013 and to the end of the 2016 Mitre 10 Cup season had made 36 National Provincial Championship and Ranfurly Shield challenge appearances and scored 8 tries.

He joined Italian Pro14 team Benetton prior to the 2017–18 season.

He was named in the Maori All Blacks squad for their northern hemisphere tour in November 2016.

Douglas was educated at Gisborne Boys’ High School. His grandfather Angus and two of his great uncles — Jimmy Mill and Karere Henare, —played for NZ Maori last century (sic). Mill also played 33 games and four tests for the All Blacks between 1923 and 1930.

• Angus Joseph Zanna Douglas (8th May 1928, Rotorua - 4th December 1976, Wellington) was also a vocalist/guitarist in a group which featured Nick and Ronnie Smith, who became prominent in the Wellington ... (??1978)
