December 14, 2004 - NASHVILLE (Dec. 14,
2004) – The Nashville Kats have signed a pair of former NFL players and
waived three others from their roster following the team’s mini-camp
over the weekend.
Nashville has signed wide receiver/defensive back Tramon Douglas
(5’10, 104) and defensive specialist Eric Joyce (5’10, 193) to
contracts after bringing them in for a workout at the mini-camp. Douglas
was in camp with the Titans last preseason and finished his college career
as Grambling’s all-time leading receiver with 193 receptions for 2,943
yards and 30 touchdowns.
He was a two-time Black College All-American and All-Southwestern
Athletic Conference selection.
As a junior, he was a consensus I-AA All-American, and he broke Jerry
Rice’s SWAC record for single-season receiving yards with 1,682 yards.
Joyce is a Nashville native who played in the NFL with the Chicago Bears
and Arizona Cardinals and played his college ball at Tennessee State. At
TSU, he helped the Tigers win back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference titles
and was named first-team All-OVC as a senior.
