Douglas - Swedish steamer
Built
by J. Readhead & Co., South Shields, England the Douglas was a
Swedish owned steamer that was sunk by a German U-boat in the 1st
World War.
Built in 1879, of 1,177 tons, she was operated by
Rederi A/B Tärnan (F. O. Liljefors), Landskrona.
On 1st
December 1916, whilst steaming between Grimsby and Skien carrying
general cargo, she was sunk by U 81 (Raimund Weisbach) 120 miles off
Lindesnaes. There were no casualties.
