On 10th of May 1307, The Scots won at Loudon HillOn this day in 1307, King Robert the Bruce won his first major military victory at The Battle of Loudoun Hill. Bruce and the Scots defeated an English army led by Aymer de Valence, 2nd Earl of Pembroke. After the battle, Aymer de Valence fled to Bothwell Castle. Just two months after the battle, King Edward I of England died at Burgh-on-Sands while marching north to face The Bruce. Edward's last wish was that his bones be carried with the English army until the Scots were finally crushed. His son and successor, King Edward II disobeyed his late father's wish and simply buried the dead King's body at Westminster Abbey.Read More
