On 24th June 1314, Day two of The battle of BannockburnThe Battle of Bannockburn, fought on June 23–24, 1314, was a pivotal event in Scottish history. In this decisive clash, the Scots, led by Robert I (the Bruce), triumphed over the English forces commanded by Edward II. Despite being outnumbered, the Scots secured a resounding victory, expanding Robert's territory and influence. The battle took place near Stirling Castle, where the English sought to relieve the siege. Robert strategically used the terrain, funneling attacks into his heavy infantry and anticavalry ditches. The encounter witnessed personal combat between Robert and an English knight, with Robert ultimately cleaving the knight's head with his battle axe. Scots defeated at Battle of FalkirkOn the 22nd of July 1298 Sir William Wallace the Guardian of Scotland and his Scottish army were defeated by the English army led by King Edward I of England at the disastrous battle of Falkirk south of Stirling. William Wallace escaped the battle but unfortunately his reputation never recovered after the battle. He resigned his guardianship and left Scotland. He travelled abroad to try to seek foreign support against the English.
