On 24th June 1314, Day two of The battle of Bannockburn

The Battle of Bannockburn, fought on June 23–24, 1314, was a pivotal event in Scottish history. In this decisive clash, the Scots, led by Robert I (the Bruce), triumphed over the English forces commanded by Edward II. Despite being outnumbered, the Scots secured a resounding victory, expanding Robert's territory and influence. The battle took place near Stirling Castle, where the English sought to relieve the siege. Robert strategically used the terrain, funneling attacks into his heavy infantry and anticavalry ditches. The encounter witnessed personal combat between Robert and an English knight, with Robert ultimately cleaving the knight's head with his battle axe. Bannockburn remains a symbol of Scottish resilience and nationhood, despite facing what was considered the finest army in the medieval world.
