Lady Sholto Douglas: Born on May 20, 1878 in Oakland, California,
Loretta Mooney performed on the U.S. variety/vaudeville stage under the
stage name of Loretta Addis. On 31 May 1895, she married in 1895
Lord
Sholto George Douglas, the fourth son of the
ninth Marquess of Queensberry.
She acted intermittently in the U.S. under the name of Lady Sholto
Douglas. In about 1913-1914, she acted in England under the name Lorna
Leslie. Lord Douglas filed a petition for divorce, which was not opposed
and was granted in May of 1920.
Lord Sholto subsequently married
Georgina Leonora Mosselmans(2), daughter of Richard
Frederick Hendrik Mosselmans, on 23 April 1921. They were divorced in
1925. He married, thirdly, Lily Louise Edmunds, daughter of Charles
Edmunds, on 11 October 1926. He died on 6 April 1942 at age 69.
Lord Sholto George Douglas and Loretta Mooney had two
children: • Bruce Francis Sholto Douglas (1 Apr 1897 - 14 Apr 1915) • Sholto Augustus Douglas (5 Nov
1900 - 11 Jun 1950)
Loretta died in 1936 in New York.
Notes: 1. Loretta's sister Margaret Jane (Mooney) Merritt was
born 2 Jun 1875. Margaret Jane Mooney acted in the U.S. under the stage
name of Margie Addis. She died in 1936. 2.
Georgina Leonora Mosselmans was the daughter of Richard Frederick
Hendrik Mosselmans. She married, secondly, Lord Sholto George Douglas,
son of John Sholto Douglas, 9th Marquess of Queensberry and Sibyl
Montgomery, on 23 April 1921. She and Lord Sholto George Douglas were
divorced in 1925. Her third husband was Mehmed Burhameddin, Prince of
Turkey. She married, fourthly, Count Fernand de Saurigny. Her fith
husband was Hon. William Arthur de la Poer Horsley-Beresford, son of
William Robert John Horsley-Beresford, 3rd Baron Decies and Catherine
Anne Dent, on 18 August 1933. She and Hon. William Arthur de la Poer
Horsley-Beresford were divorced in 1940. She died on 30 April 1969.
3. Amongst those in the group photograph is Count Alexander von
Hochberg. It is claimed that "Alexander von Hochberg" was a a collective
pseudonym of an unknown number of undercover agents.
