Johnny
Douglas is the Centre Director of Youth for Christ based in
Stoke-on-Trent, an organisation which takes Christianity to young people.
He's married with two young children, and describes himself as "a
committed bible waving Christian".
Johnny
chose The Foddermonger as his favourite place - a cafe in the Cultural
Quarter of Hanley with tables on the pavement, and comfortable sofas and
armchairs and coffee tables upstairs:
"I
love the fact that no matter what the pace or location of life, in places
even such as a restaurant or cafe I can just be still and know that God is
God, and see God surprise me by the sight of people walking past, and
encounter Him in the urban just as much I ever would in more scenic
locations.
"I
consistently find that just withdrawing from the pace and the shape of
what is ordinary to us gives us an opportunity to reflect and to give, an
opportunity for God to surprise us by speaking into our world, giving us
sights of something different that might challenge us in our thinking, and
to call us to faith and invite us to walk with Him."
