John Douglas(1), was born on February 6, 1840 in Bury, in England. Later he
went to Mexico, to Aguascalientes, where he founded several companies
such as the flour factory "La Perla" and the tram system, and settled in
a farm known as "Chalet Douglas", on one side of the land where it was
later built the castle.
In 1887 his daughter Adela Douglas Valencia married José Guadalupe
Ortega, whose first child was Edmundo Ortega Douglas, who always had a
great admiration and affection for John Douglas, for which he named his
farm "Castillo Douglas".
