Lt. J. Douglas RNR W 19.12 QMH RNH Commanded HMS Tern at fall of Hong Kong 1941 HMS Tern served on the Yangtze, but steamed to Hong Kong just prior to the
outbreak of war with the Japanese. She shot down a Japanese aircraft on December
13, 1941 and was scuttled in Deep Water Bay (Sham Shoo) on December 19, 1941. I
have seen conflicting reports that she was scuttled as a result of mistaken
signal.
