Hugh Douglas (b.1875) the youngest of the brothers (James and George, all sons of James Douglas, a general labourer), on leaving school he was a golf caddie on the West Links, North Berwick.

He joined the Royal Navy as a gunner and was recorded in the 1901 Census taken on Sunday 31st March as being stationed at the naval docks on Malta.
