practice in Manchester, N.H., 1970-1974; legal counsel and legislative
counsel to Governor Meldrim Thomson, Jr., 1973-1974; associate justice,
New Hampshire superior court, 1974-1976; associate justice, New Hampshire
supreme court, 1977-1983 and senior justice, 1983-1985; elected as a
Republican to the One Hundred First Congress (January 3, 1989-January 3,
1991); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1990 to the One Hundred
Second Congress; is a resident of Concord, N.H.
