Private Archie William Douglas was born on 21st September 1880 at Streaky Bay, South Australia, the son of Robert George & Elizabeth Hannah Douglas nee Burnley.

A miner prior to enlisting in the army on 9th December 1914 at Keswick, South Australia, he embarked on 1st April 1915 and served in the 10th and 50th Battalions in Egypt & France.

 

He returned to Australia to recover from an illness on 25 May 1915 per ‘Ceramic’ and re-embarked on 9th March 1916.

He returned to Australia on 11th January 1918 per ‘Pt Darwin’ and was discharged on 19 March 1918 'for family reasons'

Archie William Douglas died on 2nd July 1936.
