 He married Juliet Anne Lovett, daughter of Lt.-Col. Nigel Lovett, on 5 June 1971 They have three children:

  • Hon. Alexander Hugh Akers-Douglas b. 30 Jul 1975
  • Hon. Dominic Lovett Akers-Douglas b. 31 Jul 1979
