Obituary Oneida Democratic Union 12 Feb 1902:
Oneida Castle- Feb. 11, 1902 - Miss Augusta Lucene Eddy one of our most
respected residents, passed away at her home, early Sunday morning, after an
illness covering a period of several years. Death was due to consumption. Miss
Eddy was born in this village 58 years ago, and was a daughter of the late John
    W. Eddy. She was of a pleasing, cheerful temperament, and up to the time of her
illness was prominent in the social life of our little village. Although not a
member of Cochran Memorial Church, Miss Eddy always took an active part in the
work of the Church, and her many deeds of kindness will long be remembered by
those whom she ministered to in time of need. She was greatly interested in
the building of the above named church, and secured by her efforts much needed
help. She was also the originator of the scheme for raising a perpetual fund
for the village cemetery and lived to see her heart's desire realized. Life to
her was full of beauty and interest, and those who knew her best and longest,
remember her quick humor and keenness of intellect which made her a most
    entertaining companion. Deceased is survived by an aged mother, Mrs. Mary Eddy;
one sister, Mrs. Susie VanBrocklin, of this place; one niece, Mrs. Frank
Lamereaux, of Steven's Point, Wis., and three nephews, Howard Thompson, with
Marshall Field & Co., in Chicago, and Messrs. Will and Walter Eddy, besides
numerous distant relatives. The funeral will be held at her late home at 3
o'clock Thursday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. J. C.
VanDoren. Interment will be made in the Oneida Castle Cemetery. By the death
of Miss Eddy we sustain the loss of a beloved resident.
