  1. 1.  Sir Hew (3rd Bt of Bargany) Hamilton-Dalrymple was born about 1746; died on 13 Feb 1800.

    Notes:

    He was given the name of Hew Dalrymple at birth. On 12 February 1796 his name was legally changed to Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple of Bargany on inheriting the Bargany estate from his uncle, John Hamilton.
    He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Haddingtonshire between 1780 and 1786 and was Auditor of the Exchequer in 1786.
    He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Dalrymple, of North Berwick, co. Haddington [N.S., 1698] on 23 November 1790.

    He was given the name of John Hamilton-Dalrymple at birth.
    He gained the rank of Cornet in 1785 in the service of the 28th Light Dragoons, the rank of Lieutenant in 1797, Captain in 1800.
    He was also Captain in 1803 in the service of the 73rd Regiment of Foot, Captain in 1803 in the service of the 42nd Regiment of Foot.
    He gained the rank of Major in 1805 in the service of the 64th Regmnet of Foot and Lieutenant-Colonel in 1805 in the service of the 10th Regiment of Foot and in 1806 in the 22nd Regiment of Foot
    He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Haddington Burghs between 1805 and 1806.
    He gained the rank of Brevet Colonel in 1813. and Major-General in 1819.
    He succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Dalrymple, of North Berwick, co. Haddington [N.S., 1698] on 23 February 1834.

    John married Charlotte Warrender on 30 Jul 1806. Charlotte (daughter of Lt.-Col. Sir Patrick (3rd Bt of Lochend) Warrender and Helen Blair) died on 14 Apr 1871. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
