    John was nominally of the region of Clibrig (I believe near Farr) whilst Helen (Nelly) was of Tomich. The couple settled at Farr where they raised their children.

    The 1861 Census shows the family as living at Altanloughard, Shepherd's House in the Kirkton/Farr area.

    Helen married John Douglas in 27 Apr 1820 or 1821 in Lairg, Sutherland, Scotland. John (son of Thomas Douglas and Oliver Young) was born on 26 Jul 1800 in Yetholm, Roxburghshire; died in 1864 in Farr, Sutherland, Scotland. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Note: there is sme confusion in this entry as she is said to have arrived at Port Henry on the Aurora, where as she apears to have left London on the Ann Lockerby.

Robert Hart. Mrs. Hart ,Thomas Stewart (tailor), Mrs. Stewart, and two children, William Pott, Charles Bray, and James Schofield

    The Aurora sailed from Plymouth on the 17th of August 1848 and arrived off Point Henry Geelong on the 7th instant (December) , having made the passage in 110 days.

    "The passengers consist of 33 families viz Husbands 33 Wives 33. Children 50, in all 116, Single men 58, Single Women 30 in all 204 Souls.
    They seem to have been Selected with much judgement, the greater part are from Scotland, Several from Cornwall only one married Couple and one Single female from Ireland, they appear to be a useful and highly respectable class of General Servants."
