    Notes:

    Malcolm was educated at Haileybury and ISC and then at RMA Sandhurst. He was commissioned into the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in 1967 serving in Aden, Berlin, Scotland, Gibraltar, Northern Ireland, India, MoD, Cyprus, and Germany. He commanded the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and left the Army in 1992. He was a regional director of the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) until 1998 and then became General Manager of the Society of Writers to Her Majesty's Signet in Edinburgh until 2005. After a period of illness he worked part time for the charity Hospices of Hope until his retirement in 2011.
