Note: 1Robert Vans Agnew's correct surname was AGNEW, his father havingassumed the name of AGNEW at his marriage. Robert christened all hischildren - Vans (ref the family bible in which he recorded this actionand which is in my possession). I believe that his children did the samebut that all future generations called themselves by the surname VANSAGNEW until my father, Patrick Alexander Vans of Barnbarroch returned tothe name VANS in 1965.
Robert married Frances (of Craigie) Dunlop about 25 Feb 1777. Frances (daughter of John (Sir) (18Th of That Ilk) Dunlop and Frances Anna (of Craigie) Wallace) was born on 24 Dec 1761; died in 1848 in Newton Stewart. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
