Notes |
- possibly of Douglas Hall, Accomack County, Virginia, USA 'a Scotchman of gentle birth, and
of exceptional character and attainments.'
Col. Edward Douglas settled near the lower end of Magothy Bay in 1644. His estate was granted him by Governor Morrison, and the patent was confirmed by Governor Andros to his nephew. William Willett.
- (Research):Possible descendant of Col. Edward Douglas, Justice of the First Court of Northampton County, which held its first meeting July 18, 1642.
But also possibly a descendant of the Douglas of Baads family.
Rt. Hon. Aretas Akers-Douglas, Viscount Chilston. Baron Douglas of Baads., at the time, wrote to James Wise, of Richmond, Virginia seeking information about his family, and added by way of comment : 'I think there is every probability that George Douglas, of Accomack, Virginia, was the twelfth and youngest child of William Douglas, of Baads, who died in 1705."
