- The Obituary of Carrie Boots Hazen appeared in the Ellwood City Ledger,
Tuesday, 18 September 1945:
" Mrs. E. L. Hazen Claimed by Death
"Following a lingering illness, Mrs. Carrie Boots Hazen, 62, of Pleasant Hill, passed away at 8:30 last night in the Jameson Memorial Hospital. She had been confined there for the past 3 ? weeks.
"She was a charter member of the Pleasant Hill Grange and a faithful member and Sunday School teacher of the Wurtemburg Methodist Church.
"Besides her husband, E. L. Hazen, she is survived by four sons, Charles W., of Ellport, and Arthur R., Harvey E., and Chalmers A., of Perry Township; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. E. P. Frye, of New Castle, and Mrs. Henry Fox, of Wurtemburg, and two brothers, E. W. Boots, of Rolling Hills, and Harry N. Boots, of Perry Township.
"The Rev. Mary Johnson will be in charge of the funeral services at 2:30 Thursday afternoon at the residence where friends may call this evening and tomorrow.
"Burial will be made in the North Sewickley Cemetery."
