- A Petition by two maiden ladies, Jean and Christian Douglas, Edinburgh, Scotland. This set out that their father was killed as a young man in Albermarle's Regiment at Gibralter, their mother had been given an Army Pension for life, but that she too had recently died and the Pension had ceased. They, the two sisters, were penniless and prayed for a Pension to be continued to them in consideration of the Service, not only of their father, but of their grandfather, his two brothers and their own brothers etc., Abstract of information deduced from a Petition by Jean and Christian Douglas, dated 8th February, 1779, shown in the form of a Family Tree. John Douglas, Colonel in the Army and his brother William Douglas, Major in the Army. John Douglas' son James Douglas, fell a young man at Albermarle's Regiment at Gibralter. Robert Douglas, the son of James was Major of Marines, married Mary. His brother John was Captain in Lieut., General Gordon's Regiment and their two sisters Jean and Christian Douglas. Robert Douglas, son of Robert and Mary was Lieut., in the Royal Artillery in 1779.
