- Richard Boots is, at this writing (2003), our earliest known ancestor. The names of his parents have not yet been discovered. All we know of him is that he resided in the Parish of Etchingham, in Sussex County, England, in the early 1600's, and that his wife's name was Eleanor, he had at least five children, all of whom are mentioned in the Baptismal Register for the Parish of Etchingham.
The original Register of Etchingham was poorly preserved, and there is a gap in the register from 1617 to 1622, so there may well have been other children between the above referenced John and Eleanor.
