History of Lincoln County, Missouri by Dr. Joseph A. Mudd:
John Robert Knox was born in this county September 16, 1836; wasadmitted to practixe of law in 1859; was married April 23, 1862, andagain February 26, 1867, each wife being a daughter of the late JosephWithrow. For several years, he was engaged in banking. He wastraveling for his health in the West and South for about three yearsprior to his death, which occurred in Austin, Texas, May 3, 1876. Heleft a son and daughter.
