Joseph Johnston, of Hilton, who m. Mary Douglas, dau. of Douglas of Blackadder, and had, besides Archibald, who d. young, Joseph, his heir; Robert ; and a dau., m. to Home of Ninewells. This Joseph was murdered, when on a visit at the Hirsel, in 1683, by William Home, sheriff of the Merse, and brother to the Earl of Home.
