- Sir James Balfour, 1st Baronet of Denmilne and Kinnaid (c.?1600 '96 c. 1658), of Perth and Kinross, Scotland, was a Scottish annalist and antiquary.
He was knighted by King Charles I in 1630, was made Lord Lyon King of Arms in the same year, and in 1633 baronet of Kinnaird. He was removed from his office of king-at-arms by Oliver Cromwell and died in 1657
He married, firstly, Ann Ayton, daughter of Sir John Ayton, before 1644, secondly, Jean Durham, daughter of Sir James Durham, in 1645, thirdly, Margaret Arnot, daughter of Sir James Arnot, before 1653, and fourthly, Janet Auchinleck, daughter of Sir William Auchinleck, in June 1654.
His daughter (mother unidentified) Elizabeth Balfour married Angus MacThomas
