- (Research):In the Testamentary papers of Margaret Douglas, daughter of the deceased James Douglas, merchant and provost of Jedburgh, and wife of William Knox, of Mayshiell 29 Mar. 1786.
Her son in law Thomas Pringle, refers to a disposition and deed of settlement dated thirteenth day of July One thousand seven hundred and fourty seven years, registered in the court books of Jedburgh 5th February 1749, burdened son and Heir John Douglas, with the payment to the said Margaret Douglas of 100 pounds Sterling, of additional provision to her over and above what was provided to her by her contract of marriage.
