- (Research):There are two Jean Porterfields that lived in the Scottish lowlands that were born in the last half of the 16th century. These two Jeans are often confused with each other in recent un-sourced family trees from the internet. They both married men named James with somewhat similar last names. Accordingly to historical sources, this Jean, who married James Farquhar, comes directly from the main line of Porterfields from Duchal in Renfrewshire. The other Jean married James Urquhart. She was from Comiston, just south of Edinburgh.
