- He succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Atkins, of Clapham, Surrey [E., 1660] in August 1712.
His ancestor, Sir Richard Atkins, 1st Bt. was born circa 1615 was the son of Sir Henry Atkins and Arabella Hawkins. He married Rebecca Wright, daughter of Sir Edmund Wright and Jane Mills, before 1655. He died on 19 August 1689. He was buried on 24 August 1689 at Clapham, Surrey, England. He died intestate and his estate was administered on 19 September 1689. He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. He lived in 1650 at Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, England. He held the office of Sheriff of Buckinghamshire in 1649/50.
