- "Page 16, JEANNE (JANE) DURIER/DURIE b about 1688, was bp in theFrench Church. By her father's will in 1698 she was bequeathed "herown mother's clothing, to witt, one red, one blue and one black gown,as also one black apron with another gown, one gold ring and a sillverbodkin, with one sillver ear royer," together with a share of the realestate. In 1702 Jane joined the household of her step-father, RoelofVanderlinda, at New Hackensack on the east side of the river inpresent Teaneck, and was living there when she mar (1) 3 Apr 1708 atHack, Epke Banta b about 1685, son of Cornelius Banta and JeanneDepre. She became a member of the Hack Church in July 1708. Theylived on a farm of 254 acres lying between the Haackensack River andSprout Brook in present River Edge and Paramus, deeded to Epke by hisfather 7 Sept 1711. After Epke's death a confirmatory deed was givento his son Cornelius 2 Dec 1728 correcting a deed the grandfatherreceived for the land in 1702. At the death of Cornelius prior to1739, the farm was inherited by his two sisters. By a divisionbetween them the Earles took the east half in the locality calledSteen Rapie, and the Van Sauns the west half in the locality calledSluckup. Jane mar (2) 28 June 1730 at Hack, Thomas Frans Outwater,widower of Tryntje Breestede and Matje Pieterse. They lived in theOutwater Homestead which stood near what is now Washington Avenue inCarlstadt. Thomas d in 1753 and was bur in a cemetery on his farm.His will dated 15 Feb 1751, proved 23 Mar 1763 and filled at Trenton,left Jane a female slave and the goods mentioned in a written documentdated 10 Feb 1748. Her date of death is not known."
