- Captain Robert Falcon Scott was commissioned in 1882 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Navy. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy. He was commander of the National Antarctic Expedition between 1900 and 1904. He was invested as a Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.). On 18 January 1912 he and three others reached the South Pole, just after Amundson.
He died on 29 March 1912 at age 43, perished in a March blizzard while returning to the Terra Nova from the South Pole.
