- John L. Douglas, 56, of Rte. 5, Albia died Monday, Aug. 12, 1991, at Monroe County Hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church, the Rev. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Burial will be in oak View Cemetery with military rites.
He was born March 11, 1935, in Albia to John W. and Bertha Frazier Douglas. He married Kay Cosgrove Sept. 30, 1956, in Albia.
He was a lifelong resident of Albia and had served as a member of the Albia Police Department from 1958 to 1979. He was chief of police from 1966 until his retirement. He more recently worked as a parts man at Goff and Nash. He served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, SGT Kevin J. and SSG Kirk Douglas, both of Albia; a daughter, Kamarie Visser of Lovilia; six grandchildren; his mother, Bertha Evans of Albia; two brothers, Robert of Clinton and Richard of Marion; and five sisters, Louise Murphy, Lois Kendricks and Sharon tucker, all of Albia, Janice Jones of Des Moines and Diana Hood of Phoenixville, Penn
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
