- Jeremiah Riddle, a son of James and Dorcas Ann (Welch) Riddle, was born about 1786. He married Margaret Hardman in Randolph County VA (WV) May 5, 1811. Margaret was probably a sister of Joseph Hardman.
She was born about 1798. Jeremiah served in the War of 1812. The family moved to Gilmer County VA (WV) where Jeremiah and Margaret are buried. Jeremiah died before 1850. In the 1850 Gilmer County census,
Margaret is living in the household of her son in law, John Short.
