  (Research):[Dalkeith Advertiser 7 October 1915]: Intimation was received yesterday that Sergeant John Wood, Dalkeith, 13th Royal Scots, was killed on September 25th in a charge, while performing an officer's duties. Wood, when resident in Forfar, served three years in the Fife and Forfar Imperial Yeomanry. He joined the Royal Scots at Dalkeith thirteen months ago. Deceased was aged thirty years. His elder brother, James Wood, 2nd Gordon Highlanders, is a prisoner of war.
