He then attended Immanuel Lutheran School, in Rockwell City from 1914 to 1915. Emil lived in the SE 1/4 of section 25, Center Township, Calhoun Co., Iowa until his marriage in 1924. Then Emil and Esther moved to the NE 1/4 of section 26, Center Township, Iowa, and lived there from 1924 to 1934. In 1934 the moved to the NW 1/4 of section 36, Center Township, Iowa, where they lived at 130 Main St., Rockwell City, Iowa. Apart from being a farmer, Emil served on a variety of boards.
