A lifelong resident of Ogden Township, Mrs. Taylor tought in the rural schools of this vicinity for 32 years. She was the daughter of Rolland and Nellie (Ford) Case. She suffered a fall and was hospitalized for nearly two months before her death.

Mabel suffered from diabetes and lost her eyesight. She was honored by the Lions Club. An article from the Adrian Telegram states:
Lions Honor A Veteran Teacher - A veteran Lenawee County teacher, forced to retire because of failing eyesight, has been honored by the Adrian Lions Club. The club presented a Braille wrist watch to Mrs. Mabel Taylor of Victorsville. Clare E. Merillat, chairman of the Lions' sight conservation and blind committee, made the presentation at her home.
Mrs. Taylor retired from teaching in March 1954 after serving in Lenawee rural schools for 32 years. Her last assignment was at the Pratt school in Fairfield Township. Most of her teaching was in Ogden Township at such rural schools as the Sebring, Hodges, South Fairfield and Victorsville. Some of her other teaching assignments were at Cadmus and at the Woodside school in Adrian Twp.
Although she doesn't get far from home these days, Mrs. Taylor hasn't been forgotten by the approximately 1,200 children who were her pupils over the years, especially at this holiday season. She is receiving numerous Christmas cards from her former pupils, and since her retirement has had visits by them from as far away as California.
Mrs. Taylor started to teach when she was 20 years old, after her graduation from Michigan State Normal College at Ypsilanti. With the exception of one year in Detroit, she has spent her entire life in Lenawee County.
