It seems that the Cyrus' children by his first two wives went by the surname CASS, whereas the children of his last wife Roby Bryan(t) went by the surname CASE. His own father Moses spelled the surname CASS, so it is unclear why Cyrus' children would change the spelling, unless it was changed for them before they became adults.
