I don't think that William Case Columbia County, NY who had a son Oliver who m. Electa Webster can possibly by William Pitt Case of North Kingston, RI.
According to Arnold's VR of Rhode Island Vol 5, North Kingston VR William Case, son of Imannuel and Ann Case d. 22 yr Oct ____. he was b. 17 or 18 Aug 1762 so the year of his death was 1783 or so. William Pitt Case was mentioned in will of his uncle John Pitt Rathburn dated 2 Feb 1779 and prob. 9 Sept 1782 (see Washington Co. RI Births From Probate Records, Rhode Island VR, New Series, by Beaman, 1978).
See also New England Genealogical and Historical Register Vol. 116 p 78 and Vol 139 p. 279. Both volumes have the family of Imannuel and Ann (Rathburn) Case with son William Pitt Case who d. unm.
I have that Oliver Case was the son of William and Alice Tripp Case but the only real proof I have comes from the "Descendants of Gov. John Webster". If you have not seen this you should. It list all of the children of Oliver and Electa (Webster) Case.
This is not the answer you were looking for. I am looking too. If you find the ancesters of William Case, I would appreciate it.
