- George Nelson Taylor was a lawyer, Speaker of the House of Assembly in Barbados 1841-1846 [3], then called to Her Majesties board of Council
He was a slave owner. In 1829, he purchased the property of Arthur Seat, St Thomas, Barbados (including 59 enslaved persons) from Samuel Taylor (his father) and purchased 2 enslaved persons from his brother Edward (the Guardian of Samuel E. Taylor presumably his son Samuel Edward Taylor). He had previously recorded 9 enslaved persons. In 1832, he recorded 77 enslaved persons for an unknown estate in St Thomas, Barbados. He claimed compensation for 97 enslaved persons in 1836
