Notes |
- Through a long chain of events, Judy made friends with Col. C.L.G. Harris, who was Chief of a tribe of 6000 Maroons, living 10 rough, road miles into Blue Mountains from Port Antonio, Jamaica. Maroons originally were slaves from Africa's Gold Coast (Ghana). For 75 years the British failed to subjugate the Maroons and granted them their freedom and lands (tax-free) in 1739. Judy co-authored a book of poetry with Col. Harris - "White is apartof Maroon" - published in 1982 in Jamaica. Also, in 1982 she was made an Honorary Maroon.
