• Notes

  D R Harris immigrated to Canada in 1869. As a civil engineer, he took part in survey work for the Canadian Pacific Railway route in BC in the 1870s. Settling in Victoria, in 1878 he married Martha Douglas, youngest daughter of Sir James and Lady Amelia Douglas. Harris was an active surveyor and sold real estate in the firm of Lowenberg, Harris and Company. He was a Victoria alderman.
