Thomas appears to have come to eminence through working with CardinalWolsey. After the fall of the Cardinal, he appears to have worked closelywith King Henry VIII not least in respect of the dissolution of themonasteries. He was instrumental in arranging the marriage of King Henryto Anne of Cleves but, after her fall, fell into the King's disfavour andwas attainted, arrested, and beheaded (without trial) at the Tower ofLondon.
