- Charles (James) Carmichael of Park and Hyndford
TSP identifies this man as Charles "who has been wrongly styled James",which is the name used in BE1883. TSP suggests that Charles may have predeceased his father and so may not have been laird of the family estates. TSP also suggests that his wife may have been a daughter of Crichton of Sauchie/Sanquhar. We follow BE1883 in showing his wife as Marian Campbell because it does not just mention her name but refers also to her pedigree.
m. Marian Campbell (dau of Sir Hugh Campbell of Loudoun, Sheriff ofAyr)
(i) Walter Carmichael of Park and Hyndford (d 1616 / 25.09.1625)
From Stirnet Genealogy athttp://www.stirnet.com/HTML/genie/british/cc4aq/carmichael01.htm
However, The Peerage of Scotland: A Genealogical and Historical Account of ... of 1767 does not mention charles, instead recording James as son of Walter, son of Gavib, son of Walter in lineal descent.
